- Claude, your response seemed a bit flippant - "if mother nature cooperates"-lol? Mother nature may not cooperate, then what-lol?

Right. We don't know. What I am saying is that what mother nature can do, that is out of our control, can be a far greater threat OR can solve part of the problem.

But I agree with you that a pro-active attitude is much more appropriate than a passive attitude. And the best pro-active attitude is to educate people on how to voluntarily consume better.

- The Bush administration is not taking the tact you mention.

All you have to do is vote them out. Anyway, could it be that what is happening in Asia and non-G7 countries is the real threat. These consumers are pretending to our way of life and they have this right.

-The major immediate problems will probably be flooding of the coastal cities...etc

All possible outcomes. Mankind will need to adapt if we are not intelligent enough to find a way to stop this trend.

<Our children and grandchildren are going to wonder what in the hell were we thinking>

Thats still way too optimistic. Many scientists now believe global warming irreversible. Can we survive much longer? Even if we immediately started deploying nuclear power we may not be able to bring back the glaciers.

We need much more negativity. Only then will leaders begin to consider taking massive action. Right now it is still like so much other fiction.

An excellent piece on Global Warming.. with some interesting comments on Al Gore film. Basically, it is wrong to be a skeptic but also wrong to be an alarmist.
