Roger Baldwin's "mindset" is alive and well today as noticeable in posts on this thread...

I didn't talk about pre WW II history of the thirties but about most recent history of the 60s thru the 80s, actually all the way up to the break down of the Soviet Union, fate of which was sealed by the courage of the Hungarians, who punched the final hole in the Iron Curtain.

During the great failure of capitalism during the 1930s

The depression had a lot more to do with horrible actions of government than it did with any failure of capitalism. There had been sharp downturns before but they didn't last 10 years because you didn't get massive increases in taxes and regulations after they started.
