They say that good health is just the slowest way to die.

Yep , birth to death for all general purposes does tend to show that even the fate of our lives demonstrates a beginning & an end ...and we clearly do travel along in a definite linear fashion . For the individual time does have an end . Death is for all practical purposes is absolute . ;)

Our lives do also tend to mimic general evolution , with growth some may have the chance to expand and branch out adding some new appendages of skills & knowledge which modern science does offer so many new interconnected fields of study , and learning to connect a few of the dots together of the ongoing "Big Picture Show " . Hope , faith, and prayer does not change the inevitability of death or change the fact of it .Belief in "God " and an afterlife does not change this .

But perhaps there is an inherent value in the elemental practices that were found in religion that mimics the same in art , philosophy & science in that could fall into the realm of mediation of the senses from the point of self~reflection from which a similar deeper pattern recognition can be found & obtained . In all these four great "spiritual paths " ....science /art /philosophy / religion , man has been able to test out hypothesis & explore himself in some solitude . The modification of religion by science as time has expanded forward , is an evolution itself which seems only to enhance the former by offering even deeper pattern recognition into time & ongoing creation , upon which to reflect , imo .

Fortunately science as time passes has naturally evolved to become more organized which has led to many wonderful interdisciplinary discoveries . Science still has to some lessoned extent the remains of some tribalization , but has been one of the most powerful instruments & agents of change for doing away with racial & nationalist hatreds . As for religion in general though , God may have intended it first as a gift at the beginning but later on in time the Devil taught man to organize it . If the main purpose of religion is to know and love God , it generally fails even the most basic litmus test .

;-)

"They say that good health is just the slowest way to die"

Of course it is. But that is a very good thing. Length of (healthy) life extends moments of happiness (presuming for the moment that the healthy person is happy, as well). That is not quite like dying by gut shot and no water.

I would like to die fairly unhealthy but not to where I could not wipe my own bum...
