I met a Colonel just back from Iraq which I reported on. We discussed the war and four things he told me stood out: 1) Halliburton runs everything and the military is not allowed to question them 2) The reconstruction is not getting done which means we're not winning hearts and minds 3) The Saudis are not our friends (but they are Bush-cheney's close cronies) 4) He knows it's an unwinnable situation, but feels bad about leaving the place in such shambles. Want to argue with any of those points, be my guest. What this proves is that Bush-Cheney treated Iraq just like they treated New Orleans after Katrina. Lots of promises, no delivery. And their cronies are busy skimming the cream. If you want a clear picture of what it's like in Iraq watch BAGHDAD ER. That's the unvarnished truth. What you see on Fox News is not reality. They sugar-coat everything for the White House.
