It seems to me that everyone who posts on the various threads has their own agenda in terms of what they believe...
Moreover they seek to find others who believe the same as they do.. I am addressing politics here...
In the years that I have been reading posts on a great many threads I have not found many who have had their minds changed by what would appear as evidence to the contrary..No matter what the sources.

However, lately the sources of information other than FOX news have been viciously attacked for their positions on any story.. It would appear that those thoughts actually preclude anyone from taking seriously what is published and how accurate the information might be. Even embedded journalists with the troops have had what they have written discredited..Even when their is actual film to support the events.

However, what bothers me the most.. is when this information is negated that the attack is ALMOST always that UNAMERICAN statements cannot be tolerated.

I have seen this more recently with the story about our soldiers raping and murdering that young girl and her family.

It would appear that those zealous wave the flag supporters will not accept that there is a minutiae of truth to this story and that anyone who believes it is acting in bad faith against our military.

I find this wrong.. Terribly wrong for when we fail to recognize possibilities that we as a Nation might be wrong and continue to believe that the message is wrong we are in trouble.

More and more there appears to be fewer checks and balances.
Not only to the abrogations of the administration in ignoring the Congress and the Constitution but putting all the press with a few exceptions into a lump of anti American.

This is worrisome to me. Does it bother any of you who post here...

To my mind, the most glaring aspect of the NYT's running the SWIFT story, and one that I have not seen discussed elsewhere, is that essentially, by printing the story, the NYT called the POTUS out for lying.

Despite the white-hot rhetoric to the contrary, I do not believe the NYT would knowingly print any story that would cause harm to the US; they certainly kept GWB's latest foray into Baghdad secret until afterwards. And the weekend travelogue on Cheney and Rumsfeld's summer homes, which so many of the more rabid bloggers insisted was an invitation to terrorist assassination, was printed with the permission of both men featured.

Since the POTUS asked the NYT not to run a story that he insisted was a state secret, Keller basically demonstrated that he and the editors simply did not believe the POTUS.

I think this implied snub is what has caused the worst of the vituperation towards the NYT from the Right, especially from the more politically oriented.
