I always expect Hillary to be opportunistic, but I also expect her to be politically smart. In this case, I don’t think that she is being smart. I have to think that Lieberman is a lock in the general elections, regardless of label. She could earn some points with a lot of people by standing up for a beleaguered colleague. Her non-endorsement makes her look like she is pandering to the left, which she is. On the other hand, this may be payback for Lieberman’s criticism of Bill during his “troubles.”
