Look, if $649.00 is all you have for the poor kid's 'puter, what ya gonna do? Yeah, fifty more smackers would have gotten him a cute little Mac and PC in one -- an amazingly cheap & portable design marvel, really -- but hey, not my kid, nor my Scrooge budget. ;-)

in my opinion Dell has reached the level of ugliness only achieved in the past by Compaq circa-1990s.

In case you don't remember these beauties, here is one for sale on ebay. (this poor guy probably thinks someone is actually in the MARKET for one of these things vs. talking about its extreme ugliness).

Right around this time, Apple came out with its multicolor imac which took the world by storm despite Apple's poor supply chain vs. dell.

I don't know what it is about companies in decline- compaq then, dell now, but ugliness seems to be the hallmark.

BTW this is their hyped up XPS gamer line. This is as good as it gets at dell for design. sheesh.
