"Walmart is a huge parasite on Middle America sucking it dry."

Nothing could be further from the truth, Clifford.

You live in LA. I live in "Middle America."

You paint a picture of a Walmart moving into a small town of a few thousand and killing all the Mom and Pop stores in town and hiring employees at slave wages with no benefits.

First of all, Walmart doesn't move into communities with the demographics you imply. They move into communities that have a vibrant economy and will support the size of business that they are.

Second, those "Mom and Pop" stores that do get "killed" were probably on the edge of being successful anyway and paying only minimum wage with no benefits (welcome to the retail world). The only winner in a Mom and Pop is the owner IF he/she is profitable...which is often not the case. The owner also pays for his/her own health insurance if he/she chooses to have some. Employees that move from a "Mom and Pop" to a Walmart will do better.

Third, you forget the benefit the Walmarts of the world provide to the consumer. They provide goods to "Middle America" that "Middle America" could not otherwise afford.

Ever ask yourself why so many people from "Middle America" shop at Walmart?....when it is such an evil-doer.

Ever ask yourself why so many people from "Middle America" work at Walmart?....when it is such an evil-doer.

The answer is that Walmart is not an "evil-doer"...they are a successful merchandiser of goods that "Middle America" wants and needs. That is why they are successful.

Now, how about Home Depot or Lowes or MacDonalds or Burger King? All have the same effect on a dynamic local economy. Is it just that only Walmart is in the talking points of your controllers?.....and, as I have noticed....just today?
