If I understand this convoluted logic, what you are saying is: Might makes Wrong.

You got it just backwards. I'm not saying might makes right, that is what the de facto American/Israeli approach says, and I suspect is what you hold too. I say there are very serious problems with that attitude, which will continue to bite those who hold such views in their collective ass, most likely for generations to come, as I don't see any indications of enlightenment dawning soon.

What I would like to know is, does the word "legitimate" have any meaning left in your vocabulary? If so, what?

AFAIK, Israel does not have any legitimate rights to much of the territory they occupy, therefore they have no legitimate rights to make rules governing it either. They do have legitimate rights for safety and security in their own dominions. If a burglar occupies my living room, I consider my attacks trying to dislodge him to be legitimate, independent of what the burglar or his supporters might think. I'd continue to think that way for generations as well.

I also think that many Native American's have legitimate legal claims to land and resources in the West, despite the fact that the expense of returning said stolen assets is now economically and politically prohibitive. I fail, however, to understand how cost in any way impacts the legitimacy of the claim. That is, I don't subscribe to the notion that "the facts on the ground" somehow change the past injustice. If anything, I'd say rent + interest should be added to the tab, along with penalties & damages. So you have some idea that I hold a rather strong view on "legitimate". Much stronger than you do I suspect. :)
