I think 2011 is the last date on which the heart and soul patents expire.

And Qualcomm believes there are new critical patents being applied for and acquired all the time with all the R&D they spend. In particular, they have done a lot to get WCDMA and HSDPA under way, I am sure there are some patents there, along with those from CDMA2000 and EVDO which are applied to WCDMA and HSDPA.

carranza2. its 2009, not 2011 when Q's most fundamental patents expire - isn't that also when some renegotiations kick in?
