I read another SF book recently,

I think one the best SF ever written is "The Diamond Age" by Neal Stephenson. Neal is "standing on the shoulders" of Heinlein in this one. I have read all of Neal's work, which are outstanding. This one goes into the importance of cultural association over "racial" affiliation, the splintering of our culture along belief lines and intelligence lines. You see it in our walled housing tracts, and it is just really starting. Charles Murray's main point in "The Bell Curve" is his fear of this phenomenon.
