<<most of property taxes go to support schools. the schools are self serving.>>

This year I'm getting nipped for $14,860 in property taxes. 68% of that goes to schools. Never had any kids. Now the guy down the road who has 5 kids pays $90 a year because he lives in an $80k double wide.

I live in a rural area and the bus service for the kids is door to door. The driver waits until the kid is in the house. I suggested they might have one stop every square mile. Cut the number of busses by 75%. Give the little fat kids a little exercise. People howled like coyotes. Our kids will be raped. I walked 3 miles and never had a problem.

property taxes

Minkew's point was that economists like property tax because it raises money and lowers property value. Prop 13 is one reason property is so expensive in Calif. Cheaper to own.
