I was just blubbering by the end of Glory :-(

Well, YE AH...(with an ain't-it-obvious inflection.)

They told the story very well, well enough to make us really care about these guys who had so much to prove, and their colonel who had everything to lose. When Col. Shaw looks out over the ocean for the last time before leading the attack, I lose it.

Director Edward Zwick and composer James Horner combine to make some of the most emotional movies I've ever seen. (Legends of the Fall was another.) The music almost beomes another character, conveying foreshadowing and an immense sense of loss.

Hi e,

Reading your thread and the picks presented here, great ones I might add. I guess movies reflect what one wants to see in themselves, their own experiences, and those with their family and friends.. And presented in a clear, truthful and understandable way..

And especially how, one walks away feeling about what they just saw.. First impressions in movies or any art are so important, imo..

So I pick ten but I have a lot more..:)

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid..
The Graduate..
MASH.
Sideways..
Big Chill..
Babette's Feast..
Antonia's Line
Chicago..
Good Will Hunting..
Good Night and Good Luck..
