I found it sad. The story is remarkable, but let's face it, the plight of the aborigines in Australia is a sad one, for the most part. I think you'll be glad you saw it, but it isn't one I'd watch over and over.

I read the book "Endurance" many years ago, when I was into endurance and similar type stuff. A great read. I never seen the movie though... I am sometimes let down by the movie version of what I think are great works of the written word..

"Angela's Ashes" comes to mind.. The movie never did justice to the book, a great work of art of the last century, imo, portraying the human spirit and how it can overcome anything..

You will like Rabbit Proof Fence. Little girls overcoming adversity in the Australian Outback. Great casting and the grizzled aboriginal scout, David Gulpilil is very credible. Those folks have amazing links with nature and see things we don't. Kenneth Branagh is the stiff-as-a-board bureaucrat. You won't find it a downer.
