I don't see Israel ever winning the 'image' thing. They are a little island of peoples hated by all who surround them.

What is going on now will not change the view of the arab population in my opinion. They despise the jews. The idiot in charge of Iran reminds us almost daily.

I agree with your view on the killing of innocents (in any country). That is besides the point though since the bigger issue is the terrorists intent on destroying the potential stability between Israel and Palestine.

Well, I recall collective punishment has a certain OT Biblical seal of approval.

This, to me, does not make it a good thing; indeed, somewhat the opposite.
But it might explain why so many apparently sane and intelligent Israelis seem to think killing 50-odd civilians and blockading a country is a reasonable response to the capture of two of their soldiers by a terrorist group powerful in that country.

I'd be startled if the US would have been so mild in its criticism if we'd shelled and blockaded Dublin, bombed Galway and sent tanks into Tyrone in reprisals for IRA actions, but hey. Shame we didn't try?

The alternative, that the Israelis do it because they can get away with it, don't care about the hypocrisy in their actions, see no reason to be less evil than the terrorists, and view the lives of non-Israelis as worth less (or indeed worthless) is of course unthinkable.
