Ali,

I would say this Republican party does not resemble anything that I grew up with. In addition, I'd say that if you had a White House and Congress that was Democrat, similar abuses would be taking place. I've recently come to the conclusion that it is vital to have a Congress and White House controlled by seperate parties. Otherwise, our government is not accountable to the people.

The Americans people's attitudes twoard congress are funny. The Democrat congress Clinton started with was voted out in '94, I felt for NOT getting behind Clinton's health care plan. They were like an independent herd of cats, and couldn't seem to get anything done, and wouldn't follow their President.

Then we had Clinton with a Repugnican congress, gridlock, which a LOT of Americans thought was great - a congress doing very little wasn't spending much and we actually accumulated a surplus.

Now we've got Bush and a Repugnican congress, and people desperately want to go back to gridlock. They're rubber-stamping all kinds of crazy Bush neocon actions, and spending us into the poorhouse for the remainder of our lifetimes.
