What do you think of this theory: Israel has been greenlighted to do whatever it takes to remove Iran's nuclear capability.

Because, if Iran ever gets nukes, Israel is gone. So it's really Israel's problem, and it's a real problem for Israel, but Israel has the capacity to solve this problem without our direct assistance, and with plausible deniability.

We state publicly, "Oh. No. Don't." and flap our hands ineffectually, and Israel does what has to be done.

(Edit: not that I think this is the ideal solution, but hard to see what you're supposed to do when somebody says they think you should be erased from the map and then gets nuclear weapons.)
