OK, it's just my opinion for what it's worth. But I do know that persistent war is not a recipe for happiness, to put it mildly. If I was an Israeli I would have been satisfied to go along with Rabin and Sadat's plan for exchange of land for peace and I know that many Israelis, even today, would be.

But of course all that is now out of the question and the conflict has been escalated out of all proportion to what it was about originally, namely uncertainty about the boundary between Israel and a Palestinian state. Today, it involves all of Islam, the US and other nations as well in a "clash of civilizations" which could lead to another world war.

This concept, as we know, has been promoted by the neocons who have been responsible for both US and Israeli policy. Thus, as far as I am concerned, the present situation is mischievous, deliberate and contrived and is designed to further US and Israeli geopolitical interests by violent means. It goes far beyond talking about the Muslims as untrustworthy and then demonizing them.
