OT: There have been many schemes propounded over the years to ship Canadian water south. One of the most audacious involved rerouting the entire Mackenzie River south, others involved sending the Fraser or Peace River south along the Rocky Mountain Trench.

Such schemes will never fly due to environmental ramifications, nor would they make it through the political minefields. How do you think the Yukon and Alaska would react to the loss of their largest river?

The bottom line is that conservation is the only way to go. If you want a green lawn, collect the water yourself during the rainy season and store till you need it.
