Having lived in the Middle East for 23 years (and still do)and having traveled throughout the world extensively, I must say that I always am alarmed at the paint brush that news organizations and people brush countries and peoples with. I have found that probably about 95% of the people of any country are nice people that are just like you and I - trying to eke out a living and providing for family - friendly-hospitable etc. Unfortunately politics and governments are not always so. My point is do not presume that a nation of people is bad because of a Govt. Just like I have very little influence in the actions of my government, the same or more is true of peoples of other lands. Most Iranians are not religious extremists, America hating fanatics. In fact, mostof those I have met like Americans and are happy to see and talk with you. Yes the Govt. is bad now and quite troublesome, but do not presume that this is the case for the majority of the populace. It is not. Same with Lebanon, Saudi, etc. Yes each country has a small minority of bad people but most, although customs may be different, are comprised of people that are quite nice. This is why I am always dismayed when I see the inevitable posts of some that have little understanding of the world and other peoples that suggest we bomb them out of existence and take glee in the destruction. Right now, one of my employees is in Sidon on his yearly vacation, and his kids are terrified at the bombs reigning downward. THis Lebanese national is one of the finest people and workers I know. I understand what is happening but am saddened. It is usually the 95% (the good people) that suffer because of poor leadership in governments and evil people. I hope for a quick end to this and other conflicts throughout Regards Neil
