Seems like a stupid idea to overproject the deficit

It's neither the first nor last stupid idea to come from this administration.

"Seems like a stupid idea to overproject the deficit, since that would give lawmakers an incentive to fill up the extra margin with pork."

Uhh. The projected deficit is based on projected expenditures BY the lawmakers minus projected revenue. I think you're confusing it with the BUDGET, and how much money is available.

"Then the deficit would be closer to zero, and you'll still be complaining"

No. There is nothing more important than the deficit. I did stagflation once and didn't like it. It isn't going to be more pleasant this time around.

Forgetting for the moment that the deficit was much closer to zero when they came into office...

This despite record tax revenues. Boy I'd love to see Bush actually cut spending a little deeper. Then the deficit would be closer to zero, and you'll still be complaining, only this time over what he cut, not the fact that he made cuts.

More whining? [tm Ten]
