OT:I've been getting more and more into growing stuff that seeds itself. For instance, when I grow my brassicas (broccoli, kale, mustard greens, etc.) I let them go to seed, which attracts flocks of songbirds to my yard, which my cats are fortunately too inept to catch. While eating the seeds, the birds scatter some around, starting my winter crop, and then I put what's left into my special seeding compost to be spread in the spring to start my summer crop.

That way I have greens year round, pretty yellow flowers in the spring, and lots of birds.

I only grow flowers that are perennials or reseed themselves.
