By the way, have you noticed that this "war" is now longer than seven days and still many hundreds of thousands of Israelis are in bomb shelters? An entire seven days, huh? Is there some rule that Israel only gets a week? Not this time.

What they're doing now works a lot better. The demographics are inevitable. It's not like Israel under siege is an attractive place to which to immigrate. Carl.. IMO, this war is not going to end until either the Lebanese army deploys along the Israeli border and acts to disarm Hizbullah, or a UN multi-national force AUTHORIZED TO UNDERTAKE THE DISARMAMENT, is deployed. Syria doesn't want such a force on its borders, and they certainly don't want Israeli troops occupying S. Lebanon again since they don't have any military forces deployed there this time (as they did in 1982). As Bush stated, the key to resolving this problem resides in Damascus. Iran's role has been marginalized by Syria's prevailing interest in preventing another confrontation that would drastically weaken their already weak military forces. Hawk
