The recent comments and news coverage make Syria and Iran seem similar. They are very different. Iran is close to a mono-culture; where as, Syria is very diverse and it is already a fairly unstable society. In some respects Syria is more like Jordan than Iran, and Jordan is a fairly friendly nation.

Personally, I would like to see the Bush Administration be a little more articulate about their policies on Syria. It is a mistake to simply label the country an enemy of our state as part of some Evil Axis. That could galvanize Syrian populations against us, which could also spill over into Jordanian attitudes. Diplomacy with Syria could have very significant results because of the diverse interests within the Syrian borders.

I don't know a clean, easy way of removing cancer from deep within the body. Yeah, it's not rosy out there, but maybe the kids need to go out and play , while the adults handle the real jobs.
