No way of telling. Another civil war is probably the most likely, followed by Syria and/or Iran asserting control. Heck, it is even possible that their democracy survives if there is some sort of public backlash against Hezbollah for dragging them into conflict with Israel. I doubt it, but...

CJ, However, the Lebanese experiment with democracy is probably over. That isn't good long term.

So what do you think will fill the Lebanese vacuum? Another civil war? Another Hizbollah? Democracy is nice and all that, but one democracy has to respect another democracy's right to exist.


Good point. Why isn't Israel respecting Lebanon's democracy?
