You're right. OS X is secure out of the box. But it is not anymore stable out of the box as it is ever. It can crash. I've had it crash. It does need to be restarted on occasion. Similar to Windows.

You're right that Windows is not secure out of the box and it should be. But it isn't so one needs to deal with it. It can be secure. As secure as OS X. It's a well understood problem. So it's no longer a compelling argument. People need to understand security and deal with it no matter how secure it is out of the box.

OSX security can be disabled. I guess this doesn't count.

Not that it matters to you (it might be to others), but Vista beta 2 is secure out of the box. I was completely comfortable with the level of security after installation as I am for OS X. And all the networking stuff configured itself automatically. And this on an Apple machine which was claimed to be not compatible when I ran the Microsoft Vista compatibility test. I was quite impressed actually. This is difficult to do when it comes to Windows and me.
