This is the fantasy world of the so-called conservative media. It is not that simple. There is a spectrum of views, a spectrum of desparation, and a spectrum of willingness to commit attrocity. My view is that these spectrums shift very strongly and negatively in response to events like we see in Lebanon. We have a billion muslims watching Israel and the way US and maybe also Canada respond to what they see as aggression against innocent Muslims -- and can you deny, are huge numbers of civilians desparate for water, living without electricity, seeing buildings around them destroyed, loved ones killed, and almost incapable of escape because of purposely devastated infrastructure not innocent victims of aggression, worthy of sympathy? Isn't it just callous arrogance for someone like Condi Rice to totally dismiss any humanitarian concerns for the people of Lebanon? Israel has to go and kill its x number of extremist enemies and everything will be OK? The means are justified by the ends, just like every tyrant thinks? Muslims see heartlessness and an enemy deserving punishment when US and Canada say, I could care less -- I hate Muslims and it's all their fault anyway. Don't you think that the extremists are going to gain followings, their methods and justifications becoming more severe? And is this in our interests? Are we being suckered into being accessories to crimes against others that are going to turn into crimes against us?
