Levi and Arrow limited the number of accounts they'd open in a town to keep retailer loyalty.

As the article mentioned, Levi has whored for Wal Mart by giving them a cheaper line under the Levi name. One thing that contributed to this breakup were the anti-trust laws which have been enforced to make manufacturers sell to everybody.
