It's a hell of an ethical conundrum: Israel know that mosques and civilians are used to disguise Hizbullah assets. These assets, if not taken out, will someday kill Israeli civilians. But it also knows that taking them out will inevitably kill Lebanese civilians who may or may not be assisting Hizbollah voluntarily.

What to do?

I suppose that to protect its own citizens from a group devoted to killing all of them, Israel must deal with the assets, but it must do so in a manner which minimizes loss of civilian life. Steps to be taken include warnings, precise targetting, etc.

Of course, some civilians will be killed. These will be held up as examples of Israeli brutality and disproportionate use of force whereas some part of these losses are in actuality the victims of Hizbollah.

War is hell.

Do include a study of the Mufti's career in your research - check out the riots of 1920 and 1929.

I'll look into it. Could you provide a history of Jewish terrorism?

In the meantime, Israel can do things that discourage the Arabs from hoping to be able to dislodge Israel, as opposed to encouraging them. Looking back, did the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon encourage or discourage Arab hopes?

If Israel, starting in 1948, had always fallen back to the partition lines after beating the Arabs in each war, they would not have the troubles they have now.

"In the meantime, Israel can do things that discourage the Arabs from hoping to be able to dislodge Israel,"

Yes of course, so lets see what they can do:
Start by alienating the whole world by bombing hospitals, bridges, communications and other infrastructure and then proceed to mass bomb Lebanon to kill as many civilians as they can and then say they are using restraint thus making the rest of the world wonder if the images they see, even on CNN, are a figment of their imaginations. Then cause upset worldwide by making evacuations necessary which serves to further alienate citizens of countries such as the USA and Canada and Australia so that any support Israel once had is now gone

This is such a brilliant strategy that I now denounce my right to Israeli citizenship, my birthright.

DOWN WITH ISRAEL......VIVA HEZBOLLAH (who by the way is the worlds most organized humanitarian organization)
