I don't think the Taurus has any quality problems beyond those inherent in the caliber.

I read a lot of "piece of shit" comments from range instructors over the years. And I remember one article about QC problems.

I have read a lot of good comments about the Springfield Armory XD-9. It is now the FBI pistol. The .40 S&W round is getting a lot of comment as a good compromise between the 9mm and the 45ACP.

The .38 Special is really a .357. That happened when old cap and ball revolvers were converted to cartridge firing models.
