If you want to credibly deter someone, you must be willing to follow thru on the threat. Thats what israel is doing. I am sure that this was clear to both hizbollah and lebanon. Agreed, and I now think that Israel might achieve this, but they MUST pull back, and relatively quickly. Occupation is a very bad idea, even if they think a buffer zone is good. The security risk is not high enough to justify this. Instead, pull back, and with the first provocation, rinse and repeat. Continue till the lice are not a problem. But do not occupy land.
