The votes of 500 million surrounding ME Arabs handily defeat six million Israelis. If the Israelis can't make/encourage their neighbors to accept them, they shouldn't be there. Gee.. does that mean if the billions of people living in non-democratic regimes assert they don't like Americans, then we shouldn't share the planet with them?? Of course not, but that's not the situation. We're talking a very small group of people in a country that they and many outsiders (the then UN) have designated as being for them (and therefore not for others), surrounded by a very large group of people that happen to be in the "others" category, and where prior to the founding of the country it was a multi-ethnic region. If the others are never going to accept the small group, its creation is certainly not good for the whole. Do you think the Israelis and the ME is better off in its current form, or do you think those two groups would have better of if Israel had never been created and Jews were granted automatic immigration rights to the good old USA (where we like and respect them)? Would you accept communist Red Jersey seceding from the USA in 1948 and supported by the Soviet Union? Smack in the middle of capitalist America, a North American communist homeland? I doubt it. Now tell me the difference between communist Red Jersey seceding from the USA in 1948 and Jewish Israel creating itself in the middle of the primarily Muslim middle East in 1948? You wouldn't accept communist Red Jersey, why do you expect the Muslims to accept Jewish Israel?

Reminds me of the India/Pakistan conflict on Kashmir... 1B Indians want it resolved in India's way of thinking... approx 200M Pakistanis want it resolved in a different way... IMHO, Neither the Israel/Pal conflict, nor the India/Pak/Kashmir conflict will be resolved in my life time... I am 46 yrs young :-)
