If Hezbollah blew up the Marines barracks in Beirut, then why did Reagan "cut and run" from Lebanon after thjat? Was Reagan a coward and traitor who sided with the terrorists? Or in some cases is redeployment and even retreat the smartest reaction to finding yourself stuck in a dangerous quagmire?

I bring up this to expose the hypocrisy of those backing Bush-Cheney's doomed Iraq policy. Clearly, we are only asking for more of the same by staying the course in Iraq. Why would anything change for the better if we just repeat what we've been doing over there?

Only yesterday, 260 were killed and wounded in Iraq. That may be the worst day since the invasion. Yet no talk whatsoever from Bushies about redeploying, even though they know they should and need to. No, it is much more important for them to pretend Bush is a "strong leader" instead of just self-destructively stubborn and unable to come up with new ideas. Even if more and more US troops are killed and we are gradually weakened as a nation.

You have not refuted my claim that Hezbollah has not declared war on the US or its citizens. You just diverted your response.

You talk about Beirut 1983. Why should I ask a US Marine who went into Hezbollah territory? If you transgress into someone's else's territory, they will destroy you. That is to be expected.

But Hezbollah has not attacked US targets overseas or within the shores of the US.

Lastly, why does Israel think they need to solve US' problem with Iran. Who are they. Are they US' hired hand? The US can deal with the Iranians directly. Let us not set aside the fact the the Desert Storm coalition, which is a true world coalition that Bush Sr./James Baker/Colin Powell built was a very successful coalition because it kept the trouble maker, Israel out of the coalition.

Did Reagan "cut and run" in Beirut 1983? Or was he smart to retreat when he saw our forces were operating in a potential quagmire surrounded by enemies they did not understand?

Let Israel take care of Hezbollah. What we should be doing is engaging Iran and Syria, not ignoring them and refusing to talk. Ditto North Korea. But most of all we need to change course drastically in Iraq. To do that though I'm afraid we'd need Bush, Cheney and Rumsfield all gone. They are the problem. Those three.
