The politicians just go with the flow. They NEED cash and if they are on the right they know that crossing Limbaugh can cost them donors and if they are on the left they know that crossing Moveon.org can cost them.

It would PROBABLY be best if we opened ALL primaries to ALL voters and not just those affiliated with one party or the other.

Let EVERYBODY in a state pick the best Democratic candidate and the best Republican candidate.

It used to be that the parties got together and compromised on the best all around candidates and the people chose between them. The candidates had to appeal to a cross section of interests and not just the most extreme elements of their own parties that would come out to vote in primaries.
