Involvement with al quaeda is tactical in iraq. Strategic interests of iran lie with the west. Radical shiism isnt going anywhere. I think we will have to deal with mullahs regardless of how it ends up for the current PM. Also think the sunni hatred of shiaa is deeper and in a sense al quaeda has had its feathers ruffled by the success of the hizbolla fighting force. Whats going on in the battle against the IDF is not terrorism, its guerilla warfare, far more advanced than the terror bombings and acts al quaeda typically engages in. So many cross currents, so many strategies and so many time frames to deal with. I think the shiaa/israel war can be dealt with. These are not stateless pals but a militia within Lebanon. Al sader is following the same model. But if irans strategic interests call for detente with the west, the militias have states to participate in and families who live there and they will continue to follow the lead of iran. We have to think of the two islamic fascist groups differently. We must keep them split. We must be able to make both tactical and strategic alliances. If we can deal with iran, next will be sunni mideast and south asia and trying to split them from al quaeda and terrorism. This will take much time and patience on our part. And it will take force to stop nuke proliferation among these states. I also believe in demilitarized south asia with no nukes for pak and india. India doesnt need to defend itself from china anymore (i hope) and pak can give up nukes as much to protect future generations of pakistanis as indians. Yes too much java today.

Heard a disturbing thing this AM regarding the UN Outpost (that's been there in the area for 28 years....) IF these UN people were watching the area....how were so many tunnels and bunkers and weapons stockpiles built in the same place by Hezbollah?????

They must continue to speak PAST Ahmadinejad's regime, and directly to the Iranians themselves. In the words of Rummy whom I will not fire because he knows too much: who cares? So you see? This is what you can expect from Bush-style, Texas-style, Cowboy-style democracy. Aren't you excited? Aren't you willing to topple your own government to be the next Iraq? What do you need jobs for? Who needs cars and houses? Garbage pickup: who cares? Streets you can drive on safely: who cares? Who cares when you can live in an urban combat zone with sporadic electricity, filled with rubble and rotting garbage in 130 temperatures? Trust me, you'll love it.
