If the israelis hit the UN position deliberately (and i do not discount that), it could only be because they were aiding and abetting hizbolla. I saw the early pictures and the soldiers, bearded and wearing turbans appeared to be south asian and probably moslem. Not sure though.

Yes.. interesting. And one would think that the UNIFIL commander(s) would have filed regular reports on their daily observations:

So where are they? And why aren't these reports public information?

Maybe Kofi Annan can shine some light on these reports..

And hopefully someone in the Bush administration will press for their release before Annan had one of his people shred them.

IF these UN people were watching the area....how were so many tunnels and bunkers and weapons stockpiles built in the same place by Hezbollah?????

Because that's all UNIFIL ever did...watch. They did not impede Hizbullah in the slightest. They didn't even protest when Hizbullah used them as human shields, which it did routinely by setting up rocket launchers right next to UN bases. I'm only surprised there haven't been more UN casualties. Israel must be making quite an effort to avoid them.
