Al Qaeda attempted to play a big part in the wars in the Balkans. When Clinton supplied support for the muslims of Bosnia it marginalized Al Qaeda in the region.

Tim...there are a lot of IFS in that post. Maybe IF we had just stayed out of it the Russians would have secured Afghanistan and there would never have been an Al Qeada at all.

IF the Russians had overthrown Gorbachev we would still be in a "Cold War" standoff in which neither country would have allowed their "client states" to even allow "terrorist" activities to even begin.

The IF game is extremely complicated.
