I have been a girl scout leader of my daughter's troops. I thought it was a requirement that you had a child in. I've never known a leader who did not, and I've been to a LOT of girl scout meetings. If it isn't a requirement, I think it should be. I'm too lazy to look it up just now, but I'll do it later.

Well, it has a political dimension in that the scouts are being targeted here by a campaign to deny them the use of any public facilities and the right to solicit contributions by the gay rights lobby.

I was never in the Scouts. One of my good friends was and I thought the uniforms they wore looked really dorky. It wouldn't surprise me if there are gay young people and even scout leaders who are covertly gay in fact. People like that can be anywhere.

But I think there's a problem with openly gay scout leaders - it would kill the organization. No parent, IMO no matter how liberal, would send their own kid off on say camping trips in the care and control of someone who avows being a homosexual. That's just a fact.
