It would appear that this purveyor of abundant energy is on its way to ignominity due to spiraling costs.

I admire Sprott but not sure what he means here. Ignominy is like public embarrassment...not not really sure what ignominity is in this context...or even if its a word!

He seems to be painting the entire OS with the same brush, not all OS cos are facing the same cost pressures as Shell ie. CLL

Maybe he should have said, "with ignominy, Shell's bean counters had to restate project costs...

I read the article. Thanks. Overall it was a very bullish article for commodities including oil sands. To me the article also suggests indirectly that we should own some gold. As for the oil sands the rapidly growing industry is a manifestation of "peak oil" driven by human necessity. Unlike caviar, people simply can not choose to live without oil in the immediate future which is why a Big oil company like Shell considers the oil sands the "heart" of their growth strategy.

"have you ordered your electric car yet?"

Gas prices aren't high enough yet. Just ask drivers in Europe whether they feel our gas prices are expensive. We've got a long way to go.
