To win Israel must conquer the entire Lebanon...

and iran... and syria... and everyone else angered by israel conquering lebanon, syria and iran.

iow, they can't really win unless they start a major conflict that could lead to world war for all.

oh, and throw in that everyone will have nukes within about 50 years and some may have nukes much sooner.

you can guess why i'm on the "no chance" side.

This is pure comedy. Everyone is talking about Israel fighting to prevent their own annihilation. What actually happened? Ignoring the events in Gaza (since the world always ignores the Palestinians), Hezbollah captured a couple of Israeli soldiers. Hezbollah immediately held a press conference and stated that they did not want war, instead they wanted to exchange the soldiers for Lebanese hostages that Israel was holding. Israel and Hezbollah have had numerous prisoner exchanges in recent years, so this is standard operating procedure. What did Israel do? They immediately declared war on Lebanon and began bombing civilian targets.

It's worth noting that Israel committed numerous violations of Lebanese sovereignty in recent years (for example they planted a car bomb in Sidon in May) so it's not like Hezbollah's crossing of the border is some sort of justification for the war.
