>>then oil price may in deed go to 100/b for a lot of reasons

Reasons:

1. Protracted war in ME if Islamist think they can win

2. Closure of Straight of H. as leverage over US?

These are the reasons apparent to me...

Any others?

This will alter the entire calculus of the conflict.

This miscalculation by the Israeli air force, when taken with the already suspect killing of the UN observers, will result in Israel incurring extraordinary political condemnation from the international community.

A case can be made that the US, in the form of Rice, asserting a pig headed insistence on not backing an immediate cease fire last week, facilitated this slaughter.

All in all, this whole mess looks like something that was cooked up by the Bush administration in terms of its abject failure to accomplish anything except kill a lot of innocent people.

An American specialty it seems.
