The Bush view is that all good flows from the defeat of radicals, which we must pursue on every front. It can't be done, of course, but the pursuit itself has become a righteous crusade for his clique.

That's the clique that is waning politically in the US at a fast clip.

What an incredibly sensible, rational and reasonable solution. It obviously won't happen.

The only addition I'd make is that the peace-making powers would have to come down hard on any party breaching the peace - easier to see, but hard to act, if it's Israel... harder to decide who to take out if it's some anonymous radical suicide squad of lunatic Islamists.
