OMG. Your problem Nadine is not just with your one-sided stance. It's with your entire mind.

"Democracy is about one central government maintaining a monopoly of force, and protecting the rights of both majority and minority."

Right-o. That's what the entire Second Ammendment is about LOL.

So, you don't equate DEMOCRACY with VOTING but instead with the FORCE OF THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT.

OIC. You're a thug. Are you a cop?

That would explain a great deal. Weakness of character leads to thuggery, violence, warmongering and the love of power over others...aka...rightwingers. Those with strength of character do not require such things in their lives.

No, Democracy is about one central government maintaining a monopoly of force, and protecting the rights of both majority and minority.

You're making stuff up - democracy is about representative government. There is no requirement within democracy to protect minority rights or even to have a military. The USA before the Civil War was a democracy. Slaves weren't considered citizens and weren't allowed to vote. Free black people were 2nd class citizens. It's sad, but that was the will of the majority of the US's voting people, and that was democracy in action. Japan is a democracy even though they no official military (just a Self Defense Force).

Unfortunate thing from the current situation in Lebanon is that in the next election (whenever that is) Hezballoh will get probably get a much higher representation in government (based on what I've heard on CNN).

So there goes US support for democracy in the ME, how is the US going to support democracy when the Lebanese want nothing more than to elect Hezbollah??
