What's going to work is the international community saying "enough is enough" and we're not going to be carried over the brink with you" (meaning we're going to have to officially intervene under Chapter VII of the UN Charter to separate the combatting parties).

And it's going to mean getting tough with Israel over final status talks and the fate of Jerusalem (it will probably have to be declared an open city and the capital of both Israel and Palestine) in order to appease the extremists on both sides


If the above happened, I would agree with you, there might be some hope. But I don't see the USA pushing for this, in fact, I would guess that Bush & Co, and most Americans would be against it. So...it still leaves the question of what is Israel accomplishing and why will it work any better than similar attempts of recent?
