Dale, I think Israel sees this as their LAST opportunity to use the U.S. to set things right in the Middle East. All of Bush's miscalculations have turned the Middle East into a Beehive of hate and suicide bombers and once we pull our troops out Israel is going to be stuck with the aftermath. If I were Israel I would want to expand this war as much as possible until the U.S. has to get involved with Syria and possibly Iran. I'm not so sure the neo-cons in the administration aren't going for the same thing.
