You are right in that Isreal can't stop the missles. That buffer zone will be a no mans land. Anyone caught in there will be stopped/shot. The cross border raids will end because the militants know they will die before they can even get to the border.

I don't think this war is just or unjust. It's about survival. Would be just as happy to see all fanatics of all religions kill each other. Then the rest of us could live in peace.

You say that a stupid war is hell. Is there such a thing as a smart war? war is hell...PERIOD. A lot of innocent people die in wars, whether they be for "good" reasons or not.

I don't believe we have the right to tell either side how to live. We did that in Iraq and look at that mess! If the Isrealis and the Lebanonese want to kidnap and kill each other, and it's clear that they do, more power to them. Hopefully all the violent ones on both sides will be gone when this is all over.

Same goes for the Shia's and Sunni's in Iraq. We have no business being there forcing them to live in a particular way. If they want to kill each other they are going to find a way.

I believe what the Arabs really want is respect. Until they get it they will fight to the death. You see, life with no respect is not worth living. The only way to forget that is to take respect for granted.

Forgive my butting in, but isn't respect a two way street?

There's respect obtained from viewing the positive benefits of cooperation and mutual tolerance for the views of each side of an issue..

And then there's respect obtained from threats, coercion, and fear.

It seems to me that Hizbullah's (and most of the Arab world's) approach to obtaining respect is to attempt to intimidate and terrorize.

After all, Lebanon has been literally too terrified to send its army to confront and disarm Hizbullah, an armed militia that is being armed by foreign powers such as Syria and Iran.

Hizbullah also was the primary organization in Lebanon that OPPOSED the pull-out of Syrian occupation forces.

And the fact that Syria STILL REJECTS the existence of Lebanon as a country means that Hizbullah was acting as a Syrian proxy aimed at denying Lebanon its sovereignty.

Again.. sorry for butting in, but I thought I should make those points.
