Saudi Arabia's unemployment reaches 30 percent

Even at 13% of males, that's very high. I remember reading that SA's dictatorship was in real trouble when oil prices were low. The huge increase is helping them out quite a bit.

I think high Saudi unemployment rate you quoted is actually in the 20-24 year age group...overall unemployment rate is resonable.

Unfortunately, this demographic range equates to some 50% of Saudi Arabia's current population.

I think high Saudi unemployment rate you quoted is actually in the 20-24 year age group...overall unemployment rate is resonable. Contributing factors are a mini-baby boom that is now entering work force and a long tradition of expatriate employment in Saudi Arabia. I think over 50% of Saudi jobs, mainly in the private sector, are held by expatriates.
