Precision bombing isn't a myth, its very real. It can increase destruction of enemy forces while at the same time decreasing civilian deaths. Even with Hezbollah's use of human shields this conflict bears that out. Tyre and Sidon have not been leveled. Beirut is not 1945 Dresden.

What is a myth is that precision bombing can eliminate civilian casualties. Enemies may be right on top of civilians (including civilians you don't know are there). Targets can be misidentified. Bombs have blast radiuses and some unlikely person can be killed by a bit of shrapnel at surprising distances. Even the most accurate bombs occasional malfunction.

Ground warfare also kills civilians.

The only real way to avoid civilian casualties in war is not to have wars, or to only have set piece battles in defined areas free of civilians. Neither is going to happen I'm afraid.
