What do you think Israel should do? Allow their enemies to take up even closer positions to fire their rockets into the heart of Israel?

Not sure, but what they're doing now ain't the answer. How long have they been saying "We need to show the Arabs our strength?" How far has that gotten them in 60 years?

Well said. The Arabs are not about to get over Israel no matter how much strength Israel shows them.

Z, Not sure, but what they're doing now ain't the answer. How long have they been saying "We need to show the Arabs our strength?" How far has that gotten them in 60 years?

The issue has always been about Israel's survival. I'd say in light of that, Israel has gone very far in the past 60 years. Sure, they got America's assistance, but that by itself is no guarantee (ask Saigon). Besides, what has the Arab community done with all of America's oil money?

Hence we go back to the fundamental question. Do you believe that the state of Israel should be allowed to exist? If not (as Ted would argue), how would you reconcile the twin notions that (a) you'd be dismantling a successful democracy in the Middle East, and (b) you'd be giving the terrorists the biggest victory they could ever hope for?
