Perhaps if you hadn't posted a view that was based on unsubstantiated garbage and a general distraction for the thread you'd still be posting over there..... Bill doesn't play your game.....and rightly so.

I'm in your same boat on that thread, and also follow it on occasion. It's a very sad and scary place. I get the feeling that if Bush said we were taking the gloves off and going to use our military to attempt to subjugate the world, the LindyBill's would cheer him on.

Any serious contrary view is quickly banned. If any of his pet centrist "opposition" (that he considers "liberal") gets too uppity, LindyBill quickly lets them know they will be banned too.

It's like watching Germans in the 1930's..

I feel I should let you know that I've nominated you for Neocon Stalag prisoner #1 at todays meeting of the VRWC. You know for when we take over the world, that is.

You may be wondering just how we will torture you. I have some ideas - you'll be made to listen to Fox News at least an hour a day, that's the first thing. Then what? You'll be forced to eat food and wear clothes from Walmart. That'll teach you! And then what? How about lowering your familes taxes? Yeah, hee hee. And then we'll tell your kids they should plan on growing up to marry someone of the opposite sex! I can hear them screaming in horror, now. And we'll let brownshirted (or are they green? I forgot.) Boy Scouts meet in your local neighborhood park. How's that for imposing something completely alien to your value system? And we'll let the military recruit or try to anyway, volunteers on your kids college campus. Oh yeah, and we'll make you share a cell with a trial lawyer! Bwahahaha!

Okay, joking aside. I'll just point out that in the real world, we don't have to guess what will happen when we gain un-checked power in the USA. Cause we've been almost there since January 2001. Bush is President, the Republicans control the House and Senate, Rumsfeld is Sec. of Defense, Condi is Sec. of State, Bolton is at the UN. We need only one more conservative on the SC to have officially "unchecked power". So where is the "political murder"? Have there been any compounds burned to the ground in the US since 2001? Why not? Do you think the death squads are all armed and waiting on that one more SC justice? And say about that, if we're really the fascist murderers you think we are, why haven't we bumped off Stevens by now? He's old - how hard would it be to arrange a slipfall bathroom "accident" for him?

What should we really do about people like you? Here's the real plan. We're going to let you walk around free and encourage you to spread their paranoid views far and wide so that voters can choose between your view of the world and ours. Hey, if we're lucky loons like you will put a real nut in charge of the Democrat party. Heh heh.

I would contend that the Sewage Nation thread (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/subject.aspx?subjectid=55094)

is my nominee for collective evil

Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave seeing how the Soviet Union has won over the US of A. It didn't need to nuke anyone, it just needed to see its rightwing, authoritarian, thuggish ilk steal elections in the US and begin to dismantle the Constitution. Ronnie is spinning as he realizes that the fake 'conservative' movement he infected the country with ended up as the George W. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and their incompetent, thieving, misery-producing cohorts.

A fifth column? Yep, them thar would be the rightwing haters of this country, the destroyers of the idea that is the US of A.

"Closed shop"? Did someone say "closed shop"
Subject 55094
Subject 50362

and the winner
Subject 51755
More bans than any other thread. What a distinction!

Gee, I failed to notice I lived in Nazi Germany or Stalin's Russia. Those stand as epitomes of collective evil.

Of course, there were runner's up like Mao's China and Pol Pot's Cambodia. Most unquestionably left. Did you notice?

You know what I think (other than you've lost all contact with reality)? I think in November of '08 there will be another Presidential election, just like there was in 1992 and 1996. GWB won't be eligible to run. On January 20, 2009 he will leave the WH for the last time as President and whoever won that election will move in. And American democracy will continue. A real contrast to those guys above. George may not be your boy, but he's no dictator and he hasn't and won't start any gulags or death camps. He's just another conservative you don't like. Pol Pot in that job probably wouldn't bother you in the least.

Another thing: If any President, including GWB, attempted to become a dictator, those conservatives you hate with such a passion would undoubtedly be the first to take up arms.

And your insults of LB mark you as an embittered cad.

What a wonderful example of the political divide that is now ruining our country. The hate left is shown in your post.

Heck - I saw this morning that the hate left, the idiot looney left, has got 30% of Americans thinking we ourselves are responsible for 911.

This shows two things. The hate left has power and the country is full of idiots.

What hope do we have?

Now, understand, I am not saying that Lindy Bill is Stalin. Obviously he is not, and I very much doubt that he personally would carry out acts of brutality, murder or torture. But he is with great energy and persistence, in his own small way, creating a mind-set where less intelligent, more unhinged, and cruder people can do just that.

Have you every noticed that many people who claim to abhor violence, seem to be fascinated by it. I call it the Tom Clancy Syndrome. His novels love to portray the bad guys as really bad. They do despicable acts against innocents. His heroes on the other hand are the good guys out there risking their lives to right the wrongs of the bad guys. But these heroes tend to do pretty bloody things to the bad guys, and the telling point is that Tom Clancy likes to describe what they do in pretty explicit detail. Of course the heroes don’t really enjoy this killing, they do it because someone has to for the world to be a safe place. But Tom’s readers do enjoy it. He knows very well what is target market is.

Oh dear. You seem to have drawn in all manner of rabble with that post. Despite almost no posting here since he organized his little Church of W almost 2 years ago, LindyBill is still the second most prolific poster here, only outdone by the local Voice of Israel. I think it mostly a good thing that he started his own little place of worship, if he'd waited a few months more, he might have ended up posting all that garbage here.

There were two things from the early days that amused me greatly. From the original thread header:

Do you look on Politics as a sport? Do you like to "Talk Politics" as if you were Carl Rove or Terry McCauliffe? Can you do this with some objectivity?

Yup, the Church of W is where the "objective" crowd hangs out, for sure. That's why there were tens of thousands of posts regurgitating SwiftVets garbage there during election season. Then there was this:

Three strikes you are out! I will warn you once, suspend you for a week the second time, and ban you forever on the third..

Anybody who's had any experience with contrary views over on the Church of W knows that "three strikes" was used very figuratively there. The Pope of the Church of W seems to have grown quite fond of throwing his weight around arbitrarily. In a totally "objective" fashion, of course.

Amusingly, I was on the select pre-banned list with 4 others when the Church of W was founded, not that I ever had any desire to post there, having had long experience here with LindyBill's "objective" viewpoint. Now, I'm officially off the ban list, due to automated SI policy, but I'm sure I'd be right back on it if I posted so much as a "Hi" there. Anyway, I believe the faithful have a right to worship in peace. I do find it amusing, though that the obsessive W worship even now claims "
This is for people who read the MSM and shake their heads at the bias.", as if his "metablog" is a fairandbalanced alternative. If only the dreaded MSM worshipped W as LindyBill does, the world would be a Fox News kind of place. I guess the kind of worship that, say, MSMer Bob Woodward heaped on W just isn't sufficient for real true believers. That's life.

Banning you on a thread is the equivalent of kicking you out a private gathering. Its not censorship, you are free to say what you want anywhere you want except in one little private club. I'm not a fan of aggressive banning (if you look at my threads you will see that no one is banned) but to call it censorship is unreasonable and to compare it to the tools and methods of Stalin is ridiculous and outrageous.

One of my francophone friends used to ask me why I read Le Figaro, pointing out that "C'est un journal de droite"

My response was "Know your enemy".

If the Third Reich was a mile, we've gone a few inches with these Paint the Map Red goofballs, but it's the wrong side of the slippery slope to be on nonetheless.

Note, the only thread I've ever been banned from was the View from the center - because it's perfectly OK for the moderator of that thread to make snide comments about political parties, but not anybody else. I certainly have better things to do than waste my time on those idiots over on PforP.

I don't hold much hope for any meaningful change in the US. A poll the other day claims that half the country still believes that Iraq had WMD.
